King of Glory

Notes from Lance Shumake's sermon on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
Sermon text: Psalm 24

He is the King of all creation

We steward His resources faithfully

If you believe in God, you don’t live with an ownership mentality, as if your life and your things belong to you, and you can use them however you want. No, you have to live with a stewardship mentality, this belongs to God, and how does God intend for me to use what he’s made? Everything belongs to God. Human ownership is a delusion.”
—Paul Tripp

He is the King and He is holy

We seek Him and receive His blessing

Jeremiah 29:13
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

He is the King of glory

We rejoice and we worship our King

“Our Warrior-King, the Lord’s anointed Son, has engaged the forces of evil and destroyed death by his death. Having finished the enemy off on the field of battle, he took a brief repose in a throne room of a tomb before bursting forth in glorious resurrection.”
—J. Josh Smith and Daniel L. Akin, Exalting Jesus in Psalms 1–50
