God Cares

Notes from Ky Martin's sermon on Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Sermon text: Psalm 103

Because the world is broken, we will have trouble.
Psalm 6:6 I am worn out from groaning; all night long I flood my bed with weeping and drench my couch with tears.

God Cares
Ex 2:25 25 God saw the people of Israel—and God knew.

We experience God’s care through…
  1. Recounting His works
  2. Seeking God’s face more than His hand

Psalm 27:3-4 Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident. One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

Psalm 27:8-10 Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, “Seek my face.” My heart says to you, “Your face, Lord, do I seek.” Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation! For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.

There is, in contemplating Christ, a balm for every wound…I know nothing which can so comfort the soul; so calm the swelling billows of sorrow and grief; so speak peace to the winds of trial as a devout musing upon the subject of the Godhead. - Charles Spurgeon
Psalm 88:18 You have caused my beloved and my friend to shun me; my companions have become darkness.

What is best in the world has been based and battered and trodden down….Is it any wonder we should weep…The tears of Jesus preceded a resurrection of the dead. Is it then possible that our tears might also be a kind of intercession? Then let our tears anoint these broken things, and let our grief be as their consecration — a preparation for their promised redemptions, our sorrow sealing them for that day when you will take the ache of all creation and turn it inside-out. -Every Moment Holy
